When 'Smallville' first hit the WB airwaves in the fall of 2001, many derided the slow pace in which the Superman-adapted series introduced fellow DC universe characters, instead focusing on "freak of the week" villains.  The case is clearly not so with The CW's 'Arrow,' which has just added another set of DC players to its already-brimming first season.  The latest to face The CW's Green Arrow are none other than the famous Royal Flush Gang, but does actor Kyle Schmid have an ace in the hole?

DC fans rejoice, for 'Arrow' has answered your fanboy prayers yet again by adding more comic book characters into the mix.  Zap2It reports that Stephen Amell's Oliver Queen/'Arrow' will tangle with The Royal Flush gang in the series' sixth episode "Legacies," including 'Being Human' and 'Copper' star Kyle Schmid as gang member Ace.

Though details of the gang themselves are being kept under wraps, don't expect to see any display of super-powers, or even flying playing cards, given 'Arrow's strict rules against implausible science-fiction.  All that's currently known is that the Gang's appearance will involve a major bank robbery that sees a crowd of hostages led outside wearing playing card masks to conceal their identities.

Schmid's Ace and the Royal Flush Gang are the latest in a line of DC characters to be added to 'Arrow's first season, including The Huntress, Deadshot, China White and Deathstroke the Terminator.  And though The CW may move forward with a Wonder Woman adaptation ‘Amazon,’ 'Arrow's show-runners don't see the two crossing over anytime soon.

What say you?  Are you excited to see The Royal Flush Gang brought to life for the first time on 'Arrow?'  What other DC characters do you think could fit 'Arrow's world?  Give us your picks in the comments below!
