The PlayStation 3- and PlayStation 4-exclusive Aveline missions for Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag will see the Assassin's Creed: Liberation star return, only this time, there's something even more devious at stake.

According to lead writer Darby McDevitt, Aveline's appearance in Black Flag happens well after the events of Liberation. “It’s a ways forward so Aveline is a bit older,” McDevitt told the Ubi blog. "It’s not directly related to the end of her story. If Assassin’s Creed IV is like a novel, Aveline’s missions are like a short story.”

But wait, how can Black Flag take place before Assassin's Creed 3, but her missions take place well after the fact? Because of the Animus, duh. “The present-day is set in Abstergo Entertainment – which is this fun, hip company to work for… at first,” McDevitt said. “You are able to access the Aveline stuff because your coworkers are working on retrieving different genetic memories from all kinds of different people.”

There will be three missions in total, bringing the exclusive content up to about an hour in length. Now that you know a bit more about the missions, will this sway your buying decision to either of Sony's consoles?
