We're definitely keeping an intrigued eye on A&E's forthcoming 'Psycho' prequel series 'Bates Motel,' which takes a prequel approach to examining a young Norman Bates (Freddie Highmore), albeit one taking place in our modern day. The first pictures released from the series, set to debut in 2013, were suitably creepy, but they're nothing compared to the dark and ominous first teasers from 'Bates Motel.' Get a burning look at the new series inside!

Poor Norman Bates never had a chance, if the first official teasers from A&E's upcoming 'Psycho' prequel TV series 'Bates Motel' are any indication. Despite taking place in Norman's youth, and highlighting the relationships with mother Norma (Vera Farmiga) and others that would eventually cause his descent into madness, Death seems to already maintain a permanent residence at 'Bates Motel'!

From the first teaser, we can gleam what appears to be a woman chained to a dank bathroom, while the second has us most unnerved of all with its flaming effigy. We'll leave that one for you to discover for yourself.

Helmed by former 'LOST' showrunner Carlton Cuse and ‘Friday Night Lights’ writer Kerry Ehrin, the series also stars 'LOST's' Nestor Carbonell, Mike Vogell, Max Thierot, Nicola Peltz and Olivia Cooke. 'Bates Motel' is slated to open for business sometime in early 2013, so check out the teasers below and tell us what you think in the comments!
