Can "streets ahead" become galaxies ahead? Of all the 'Community' season 5 guests we've observed thus far (and there have been some shiny ones), the latest is by far our favorite. 'Firefly' icon and 'Castle' star Nathan Fillion will make a guest appearance in 'Community' season 5 alongside our beloved Greendale gang, but who will the former Malcolm Reynolds play this time around?

Via Deadline, Fillion will guest alongside 'Breaking Bad' star Jonathan Banks as Annie (Alison Brie) and Banks' criminology Professor Hickey team up to investigate Greendale’s corridors of power. There, they'll go up against Fillion's politically-savvy head custodian Bob Waite, described as "not afraid to get his hands dirty but is smart enough to wear rubber gloves."

Frankly we're surprised it took this long for Fillion to put in an appearance, considering his regular Twitter exchanges with the cast, as well as a documented set visit last year. Not to mention, Abed and Troy's love of all things pop culture, 'Firefly' included.

Elsewhere, ‘Community’ season 5′s likely 2014 return will see ‘Justified‘ star Walton Goggins guest as a mysterious man who causes trouble for the Greendale gang, along with returns from LeVar Burton, John Oliver’s Professor Duncan and comedian Rob Corddry’s return as Jeff’s lawyer-rival Alan Connor. Chevy Chase will not return for the fifth season, while Donald Glover will eventually depart to develop his own FX series, ‘Atlanta.’

Shiniest news ever, right? Six seasons and a 'Serenity,' anyone? Feel the 'Firefly' love from 'Community' season 5 below, and tell us in the comments what you think of the latest cult casting!
