We're still no closer to knowing if 'Arrow''s forthcoming spinoff pilot for 'The Flash' will land its own CW series this fall, though its cast at least continues to fill out nicely. Up next for the DC drama is Candice Batton as the Flash's comic love interest, Iris West, along with Broadway star Carlos Valdes ('Once') as Cisco Ramon, otherwise known as "Vibe"!

News of Patton's casting comes from Deadline, who describes the character as Barry Allen's (Grant Gustin) fast-talking, quick-witted best friend and also the daughter of Detective West ('Law & Order' vet Jesse L. Martin), who serves as a surrogate father to Barry. Valdes' series regular character, Cisco Ramon, meanwhile, will emerge as a mechanical engineering genius and the youngest member of the team of scientists at S.T.A.R. Labs.

Elsewhere, 'The Vampire Diaries' star Rick Cosnett will portray Central City Police transfer Detective Eddie Thawne, whose past is shrouded in mystery and who supposedly harbors a dark secret. As previously speculated when the role was first announced, Eddie most likely corresponds to ‘Flash’ comic villain and time-traveler Eobard Thawne, better known as “Professor Zoom” or “Reverse Flash.” Danielle Panabaker will play Caitlin Snow, a highly intelligent bioengineering expert who lost her fiancé during an explosion at S.T.A.R. Labs and is an incarnation of DC villain Killer Frost.

For the moment, little else is known of The CW’s ‘Flash’ spinoff, though it was decided the character would be given his own pilot rather than return for the 20th installment of ‘Arrow”s second season as originally intended. We've included the character's 'Arrow' origin below, as depicted on 'Arrow,' but in the meantime, what say you? Are you excited to have Iris West and Vibe among Flash's allies?
