Well, that didn't take long. Just hours after announcing that 'Dexter' season 8 had added Charlotte Rampling as a recurring criminal profiler on the Showtime series' potentially final season, the network has also announced that ex-'Boondock Saint' and 'Young Indiana Jones' star Sean Patrick Flanery would take a similarly pivotal role as an ex-cop turned private investigator. Either role could potentially play into the possible endgame for 'Dexter' season 8, so find out the latest scoop on the new characters inside!

As 'Dexter' season 8 preps its potentially final year to premiere early on June 30, Showtime has added yet another famous face into the works. According to Deadline, 'The Boondock Saints' star Sean Patrick Flanery will join the cast of 'Dexter' season 8 in a recurring role, one which could prove integral to the show's endgame if season 8 becomes the final chapter.

Flanery will take the previously announced role of ex-cop Jacob Elroy, a handsome and straightforward man in his 40s who owns his own private-eye business, and may end up  tasked with catching LaGuerta’s true killer, if Dexter and Deb didn’t cover it up as well as they’d hoped. Flanery joins the recently cast Charlotte Rampling as neuro-psychiatrist Evelyn Vogel, who frequently aids in police cases profiling criminals by unusual methods.

What say you? Can TV handle the combined awesome of both Boondock Saints Norman Reedus ('The Walking Dead') and Sean Patrick Flanery on at once? Will Flanery's Jacob Elroy finally take our beloved serial killer down in 'Dexter' season 8? Give us your predictions in the comments!
