Just yesterday FOX Batman prequel 'Gotham' took us inside the GCPD for a first look at Harvey Dent's upcoming appearance, and now another major piece of the Dark Knight puzzle has fallen into place. 'Firefly' and 'Homeland' star Morena Baccarin will show her face in 'Gotham' as noted DC Dr. Leslie Thompkins, though she may not focus her medical talents on young Bruce Wayne just yet.

Baccarin's take on the famed healer will first emerge in 2015, as a dedicated physician and friend to the late Thomas and Martha Wayne. Leslie Thompkins is determined to use her skills to aid the city’s most in need, putting her talents to use working at the newly re-opened Arkham Asylum’s Home for the Criminally Insane, but that's not all! Baccarin's Thompkins will also find herself drawn to Detective Gordon (Ben McKenzie), who himself recently wound up on the outs with fiancee Barbara Kean.

The role will prove recurring for the moment, though like D'Agosto's Harvey Dent, Baccarin has the option of becoming a regular in 'Gotham' season 2. In the meantime, here's how 'Gotham' describes this coming Monday's latest hour, "Spirit of the Goat":

A FAMILIAR VILLIAN RETURNS TO GOTHAM CITY ON AN ALL-NEW "GOTHAM" MONDAY, OCTOBER 27, ON FOX

When a killer begins targeting the first born of Gotham's elite, Bullock is forced to confront traumatic memories from a nearly identical case he worked in the past. Later, Gordon is confronted by past decisions.

We haven't been particularly high on 'Gotham''s many Batman characters to date, but what do you think? Will Morena Baccarin's Leslie Thompkins reverse the trend? How might Dr. Thompkins play into the origins of our li'l Dark Knight?
