FOX's 'Gotham': New Trailer and Preview Tease the 'Batman Begins' Of It All

FOX's forthcoming Batman prequel TV series 'Gotham' won't officially premiere until Comic-Con 2014, though it shouldn't surprise anyone to see that young Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) has a dark night ahead of him. Watch our little Batman meet his vigilante beginnings in a new trailer for 'Gotham,' along with a new behind-the-scenes featurette with loads of new footage!

It's a scene we've seen brought to life many a time, but the latest tease inside FOX's 'Gotham' gives a pretty beat-for-beat look at young Bruce Wayne having his parents murdered before his eyes, and the subsequent inspiration taken from Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) to find light in the darkness. Unlike 'Batman Begins' at least, the 'Gotham' version of Batman's origin seems to tease a conspiracy element to the killings, heavily masking its gunman to conceal any real identity.

As if that weren't enough, TVGuide got their hands on a new behind-the-scenes featurette for the DC drama, which shows off plenty of new footage (say, who's that hooded fellow with a meat cleaver?) as writer-producer Bruno Heller discusses the overall tone of FOX's 'Gotham.'

The new series will explore “the origin stories of Commissioner James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and the villains that made Gotham famous,” with its pilot focusing on Gordon’s investigation of the murders of Thomas and Martha Wayne. The pilot was written and executive produced by Bruno Heller (‘The Mentalist’), along with Warner Bros. Television, and directed by ‘Judge Dredd’ helmer Danny Cannon.

FOX's 'Gotham' also stars Robin Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot, Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth, Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle, Donal Logue as Gordon’s partner Detective Harvey Bullock, David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne, Cory Michael Smith as Edward Nygma, Victoria Cartagena and Andrew Stewart-Jones as Renee Montoya and Crispus Allen, ‘Burn Notice‘ star Zabryna Guevara as Gordon’s GCPD boss Captain Essen, and Erin Richards as Gordon’s fiancée Barbara Kean.

FOX's 'Gotham' may not hold its own Comic-Con 2014 panel this year, though the cast will certainly be on hand with the pilot premiere, so take a look at the new previews above and below, and tell us what you want to learn from FOX's new Bat-drama before its fall debut!
