Kurt Sutter’s FX Bastard Executioner should prove one of the more interesting experiments of the fall (and not just by casting Ed Sheeran), and even after its first trailer, each teaser takes us a little closer into a world of medieval horror. Swords swing, blood flies, and supporting cast are all on display in a new round of Bastard Executioner teases.

In addition to a strong focus on Lee Jones’ central figure Wilkin Brattle, FX’s stylistic new Bastard Executioner teasers spotlight medieval carnage all around, particularly a glimpse at Brattle losing his family, and the supporting cast. We’ll hopefully see a fuller trailer before long, but until then, the above and below teasers sell some strong imagery for the series.

The Bastard Executioner follows “a warrior knight in King Edward III’s charge who is broken by the ravages of war and vows to lay down his sword. But when that violence finds him again he is forced to pick up the bloodiest sword of all.” Lee Jones will play the title role, with will True Blood star Stephen Moyer acting as his right hand man Milus, Katey Sagal appearing as “Annora of the Alders,” and even native Welshman and The Americans lead Matthew Rhys lands in a guest role.

The full Bastard Executioner cast list also offers an expansive preview of the new series, but in the meantime, you can check out the teaser trailers below, and stay tuned for the FX premiere sometime this coming September.
