As we mentioned with the first 'Glee' season 5 promos, the cast and crew of FOX's megahit musical drama find themselves in the awful position of promoting a new season that we know to feature a difficult memorial episode only three hours in, before a brief hiatus to to retool the show. And while the latest round of 'Glee' promos play up The Beatles over Cory Monteith's death, what new details have emerged of Monteith's memorial episode "The Quarterback?"

Via E! Online, we've learned that 'Glee' season 5's Cory Monteith tribute episode will feature a number of returning guest stars, including Amber Riley (Mercedes), Harry Shum Jr. (Mike Chang), Mark Salling (Puck), Jayma Mays (Emma), Dot-Marie Jones (Coach Bieste), Mike O'Malley (Burt Hummel) and understandably Romy Rosemont (Carole Hudson-Hummel). Curiously absent from either the script or the episode however, are Dianna Agron (Quinn Fabray) and Heather Morris (Brittany Pierce), while Lea Michele supposedly won't appear in the hour until its final act.

Meanwhile, the above promo for the new season features series star Darren Criss selling viewers on the idea of incorporating The Beatles into the first two episodes, but naturally avoiding any and all mention of either Cory or his character Finn Hudson. 'Glee' has always been characterized by its pep, granted, but we have to imagine a better way to promote the season than avoiding its most obvious subject entirely.

In addition to its exits, ‘Glee’ season 5 will feature prior recurring cast members Melissa Benoist (Marley), Jacob Artist (Jake), Becca Tobin (Kitty) and ‘The Glee Project‘ alumni Blake Jenner and Alex Newell ascending to series regular. ‘American Idol‘ runner-up Adam Lambert will also take a role as Kurt’s new NYC rival, while 'Spring Awakening' star Phoebe Strole guests as a new love interest for Sam.
