Hannibal buzz has spelled plenty of doom and gloom in recent weeks, with Season 4 seeming less and less likely, though we at least have nine incredible hours to go in Season 3. And who better to testify to that, than “The Great Red Dragon” himself? A new synopsis previews Hannibal’s adaptation of the classic Thomas Harris novel, but be warned of spoiling your appetite future episodes!

Once again, we warn you of potential spoilers through episode eight this season, but despite Bryan Fuller’s “remix” approach to Thomas Harris canon, some fates even Hannibal can’t escape. NBC’s latest synopsis for the season’s eighth episode confirms that not only will Dr. Lecter find himself behind glass, but a three-year time jump puts the series into its most straightforward adaptation yet:

“THE GREAT RED DRAGON”

THE GREAT RED DRAGON RISES - RICHARD ARMITAGE GUEST STARS AS FRANCIS DOLARHYDE - NINA ARIANDA AND RAUL ESPARZA ALSO GUEST STAR

Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) has been under lock and key for three years at the Baltimore State Hospital for the Criminally Insane, when a new villain arises in Francis Dolarhyde (guest star Richard Armitage), also known as “The Tooth Fairy.” As the investigation unfolds Jack Crawford (Laurence Fishburne) approaches Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) to help catch this vicious serial killer who is targeting families. Caroline Dhavernas, Aaron Abrams and Scott Thompson also star.

And while the synopsis doesn’t clarify as much, Nina Arianda will guest star as Will’s wife Molly, while future episodes will see True Blood alum Rutina Wesley portraying the blind Reba, an integral figure in Francis Dolarhyde’s story. We’ll surely know more of Hannibal’s fate from Comic-Con 2015, but does the upcoming Red Dragon arc sound like the darkly delicious drama’s most exciting yet?
