'Hannibal's midseason status and 13-episode run can mean we'll go months at a time without any fresh appetizers of the season to come. We've already learned of one major guest star for the upcoming second season, but what better way to prep for the dour darkness of 'Hannibal' season 2 than a gag reel cleansing the palate of the deliciously dark first course?

Via Buzzfeed, we're astonished to find how much the 'Hannibal' season 1 gag reel actually manages to lighten the mood, considering how dark and depressingly noisy the first season could become, especially in later episodes. You'll never look at Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) the same way again, while Hannibal himself (Mads Mikkelsen) has some choice words for Freddie Lounds (Lara Jean Chorostecki) that might make you choke up an appetizer before the September 24 home release.

Meanwhile, we know of 'Hannibal' season 2 that 'Sex and the City' vet Cynthia Nixon will play an FBI oversight investigator, while series creator Bryan Fuller previously expressed a desire to cast ‘Pushing Daisies’ alumni Lee Pace, Kristin Chenoweth, Anna Friel and Chi McBride, and would love to have music icon David Bowie as Hannibal’s uncle. Fuller previously expressed his intent to feature Raul Esparza’s Dr. Frederick Chilton in a regular capacity, given Will Graham’s status behind bars, though the actor’s elevation to ‘Law & Order: SVU‘ regular status casts that idea into doubt, similar to Gillian Anderson‘s role in NBC’s upcoming ‘Crisis.’

Taste the lighter side of 'Hannibal' with the gag reels above and below, and tell us in the comments what you want to see from season 2!
