Many of you may remember Heavenly Sword as one of the PlayStation 3's earlier exclusive titles. Coming out just one year after the PS3 launched, Heavenly Sword introduced us to Ninja Theory's Narkio, a woman warrior in search of taking down King Bohan. Now, Sony is adapting that tale into a fully animated feature film.

Due out in 2014, 'Heavenly Sword' brings back Anna Torv ('Fringe') as Nariko, with Alfred Molina replacing Andy Serkis as King Bohan. Thomas Jane will also have a role as Loki in the animated feature, which again will center on Nariko's quest to take down Bohan with the aid of the Heavenly Sword.

Blockade Entertainment has handled production of the film, which will see digital release globally, though select markets will get a theatrical release. As you can see in the footage above, a lot of the characters from the original game will return, though we don't see Nariko's adorably crazy sister Kat anywhere. Fingers crossed she makes the cut.

It's not a sequel to Heavenly Sword, but it'll have to do. And who knows? If it performs well, maybe we can convince Sony and Ninja Theory to put out a proper follow-up.
