Maybe they were having a sale!  Months ago, we learned that the aftermath of 'How I Met Your Mother' season 7 finale "The Magician's Code" would weigh heavily on one as-yet-unseen character, to be played by 'Reno 911!' star Thomas Lennon.  Now, with 'How I Met Your Mother' season 8' premiere less than a week away, we find out that fellow Reno Sheriff's department alum Joe Lo Truglio is the latest to join the cast, but as whom?

'How I Met Your Mother' season 8 is assembling itself quite a Reno strike force, casting another 'Reno 911!' vet for its eighth and potentially final season.  TVGuide reports that Joe Lo Truglio will appear across two episodes of 'How I Met Your Mother' season 8 beginning in November, putting the Honeywell in "Honeywell & Cootes," Marshall's new environmental law firm.

Lo Truglio will appear in a November trial arc, as Marshall continues the fight against a multi-billion dollar lake-dumping corporation that previously offered a measly settlement.  Though unconfirmed, it seems likely Lo Truglio's appearance would mean that Martin Short could reprise his role as Garrison Cootes as well.

Lo Truglio joins an expanding list of guest stars to appear in the eighth season, including David Burtka, ‘Breaking Bad’s Bob Odenkirk,  ‘True Blood‘s Joe Manganiello as Marshall’s law-school friend Brad, Ashley Williams as Ted’s one-time love interest Victoria, and ‘Battlestar Galactica’ vet Michael Trucco as Robin’s previously unnamed crush.  As mentioned, ‘Reno 911!’ star Thomas Lennon will appear as Klaus, the man Victoria left at the altar for Ted in season 7 finale “The Magician’s Code.”

What say you?  Will Joe Lo Truglio make the case for ‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 8?  Do you think next season, beginning September 24 will be the last?  Tell us what you’d like to see happen in the comments below!
