‘How I Met Your Mother’ Preview: Will “The Ashtray” Smoke Out the Real Barney?

After this past week's mostly-absurd half-hour "Bad Crazy," next Monday's all-new 'How  I Met Your Mother' episode "The Ashtray" will dip back into its own history a bit as Ted and the gang once again find themselves face to face with George "The Captain" Van Smoot ('Twin Peaks' Kyle MacLachlan), former husband to Ted's ex-girlfriend Stella. More than that, the episode will see Barney reclaiming a bit of his wild side, so how would you like a first look? Check out a preview of 'How I Met Your Mother's "The Ashtray" inside!

Next Monday's all-new 'How I Met Your Mother' episode "The Ashtray" will blast from the past not once but twice, as Ted and the gang remember their last encounter with Kyle MacLachlan's murder-eyed "The Captain" after he calls Ted for unknown reasons. CBS has released the first promo from the outing, which also sees Barney going back to his showman's ways, hiring out girls to accompany him and decking himself out in more elaborate costumes.

Now that 'How I Met Your Mother' has been renewed for a ninth and final season, will the series backpedal on Barney's growth during his relationship with Robin? Will the wedding still be shown at the end of the season, wherein the fateful meeting of the mother occurs?
