Snaggletoothed songstress-turned-actress, Jewel Kilcher has been tapped to play Johnny Cash's beloved wife and musical partner June Carter Cash in the upcoming Lifetime biopic, 'The June Carter Cash Story.'

Kilcher will step into the role that earned Reese Witherspoon an Academy Award in James Mangold's 2005 Johnny Cash biopic, 'Walk the Line.' 'American Horror Story' and 'Big Love' star, Matt Ross will play the Johnny to Jewel's June.

Lifetime programming VP, Rob Sharenow promises a film that will explore Carter Cash's own musical and personal journey, a story that's often overshadowed by that of her music icon husband.

"Many people know about the legendary love story of Johnny and June, but June Carter Cash has her own epic journey filled with triumphs, tragedies, loves and losses. This movie will explore all aspects of the woman behind the icon, and we're thrilled Jewel will be playing the role," said Sharenow.

The made-for-TV-movie will draw on "Anchored in Love: An Intimate Portrait of June Carter Cash," a memoir written by the couple's son, John Carter Cash, for source material. The Carter Cash biopic marks the second book-to-TV-movie announcement from the network today, who earlier revealed Rob Lowe's casting in a film about the Casey Anthony trial.

Coincidentally, Jewel appeared in Judd Apatow's 'Walk the Line' send-up, 'Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story.' However, it's unlikely the Lifetime flick will involve dwarfs or machetes.
