Veteran Industrial Light & Magic visual effects supervisor John Knoll did pretty well suggesting his fun little heist movie idea to Lucasfilm. Rogue One was the buzziest blockbuster of last year and while it has its flaws, it’s still a whole lot of fun watching a Star Wars movie that has nothing to do with anyone named Skywalker. It expanded the Star Wars filmic universe and paved the way for more spinoffs, and since we all know the movies aren’t ending with the final episode of the new trilogy, Knoll has another idea marinating already. You know, in case anyone’s interested.

Knoll, who is now the chief creative officer at ILM, revealed that he had a new plan for another spinoff at the National Association of Broadcasters’ Rogue One event (via The Hollywood Reporter).

I have another idea I’ve been tinkering with. It’s maybe 75 percent there. I haven’t pitched it to [Kathleen Kennedy]. It’s another Star Wars thing.

Obviously, he didn’t mention exactly what it was about, but it’s certainly not another heist movie. He spoke about how the Star Wars universe, in its vastness, is open to any and all ideas for more stories. And, ahem, so is Disney.

There’s no reason to think Disney is going to stop wanting to make Star Wars movies if there’s quality and there’s interest. It has unlimited potential. It has a huge number of characters, worlds…It’s a massive playground.

So, there you have it. Unofficial confirmation that we’re gonna have a new Star Wars-adjacent movie every December for the rest of eternity, or until the Sun starts to die and turns into a red giant and swallows up the Earth. Whichever comes first.
