We knew David Hayter would be out, but we didn't know who was set to replace him in Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. On Thursday, Hideo Kojima announced Kiefer Sutherland was coming in to play Big Boss/Snake in the fifth entry.

During Konami's pre-E3 event, a tiny bit of time was spent discussing Metal Gear Solid 5. Though the talk was short on gameplay, the much hyped reveal of Snake's new voice actor was actually worth the wait. Kiefer Sutherland brings a wealth of acting experience to the role, and will bring much more nuance to Snake now that facial animations are a larger part of the plan.

We still don't know when MGS5 is coming, but there should be some more info coming next week at E3. The lack of a demo on Thursday almost guarantees that at some point, Kojima will show up on stage to introduce another trailer.

What do you think of Kiefer taking on the role?
