Deadpool star T.J. Miller recently said that there’s a more profane, more violent and more “raw” cut of the film, leading many fans to believe that we’d eventually see an unrated, extended version of the movie hit DVD and Blu-ray. Unfortunately, that won’t be happening, as director Tim Miller has revealed that he has no plans for a director’s cut of Deadpool, so you’ll just have to enjoy the one that’s out there.

During a Q&A following Collider’s special IMAX screening, Miller said that there won’t be a director’s cut of Deadpool:

I don’t wanna be all Joss Whedon on you, but no there’s not [a director’s cut]… There are some deleted scenes that have some extra stuff, but I’m pretty happy with this cut. I like it.

It’s also unlikely that 20th Century Fox would want to release an even more profane version of the film — although Deadpool is a bigger hit than most expected (it’s tracking for a projected $135 million opening weekend — more than double what was previously predicted), it’s still a superhero film. These movies don’t typically get director’s cut editions, and in the case of Deadpool, a director’s cut would mean piling even more profanity, blood and sex onto a film that’s already packed with it, which may cheapen it in the eyes of Fox.

Miller does go on to describe at least one of the deleted scenes, which — judging by producer Simon Kinberg’s reaction — isn’t likely to surface on the eventual home video release:

There’s some stuff on the DVD extras, I had a little more workshop fight in there that I liked—that’s the beat that we were talking about, [Simon’s] like, ‘Tim it’s violent enough, please’ and I’m like, ‘Oh no but man when he stomps on his face it’s awesome,’ and Simon’s like, ‘No we’ve got enough.’ (laughs)

While we won’t get a director’s cut or extended edition, some of the deleted scenes or alternate takes (there was a lot of improv on set) will likely appear on the DVD / Blu-ray later this year.
