Just yesterday Universal announced an official release date for Pacific Rim 2, which won’t arrive until — sorry! — February 2018. For now, the only actor confirmed to appear in the sequel to Guillermo del Toro’s sci-fi blockbuster is The Force Awakens star John Boyega, but he’s going to need a bit of help if he wants to cancel the apocalypse (again). Enter Scott Eastwood, Fury star and son of Clint, who is currently circling a role opposite Boyega in Pacific Rim 2.

THR reports that Eastwood is in talks to join Boyega in the kaiju vs. robots sequel, though no details on his potential role are available at this time. None of the actors from Pacific Rim have been confirmed to return just yet, including Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day and Charlie Hunnam — but can you really have a film starring Hunnam and Eastwood? They’re both cut from the same handsome, bland white cloth.

Del Toro previously said his idea for Pacific Rim 2 involved the return of Charlie Day and Burn Gorman, the mismatched scientist characters who provided some comic relief in the first film. But with Jurassic World scribe Derek Connolly scripting the sequel and former Daredevil showrunner Steven S. DeKnight directing, it’s unclear if they’re sticking to del Toro’s original plan.

Aside from Boyega’s role as the son of Idris Elba’s Stacker Pentecost (which is still the coolest character name ever), we know very little about Pacific Rim 2, which is scheduled to hit theaters on February 23, 2018.
