Sylvester Stallone may have helped reinvigorate the Rocky franchise with the stellar Creed, but will John Rambo end up dragged out of retirement again? A new TV iteration titled Rambo: New Blood has officially landed at FOX, with Stallone set to produce, as a new generation dons the headband and oil. Oh, just so much oil.

Per TVInsider, the long-gestating project has finally drawn First Blood at FOX with an official script order. Stallone will only produce for the moment, though the new series is said to follow the strained relationship between Rambo and his son J.R., a former Navy SEAL.

Die Hard screenplay writer Jeb Stuart will write and executive produce New Blood, alongside producer Avi Lerner. In development since about 2013, Rambo isn’t the only major Stallone franchise with an eye on TV adaptations at FOX, following news that The Expendables might also spawn a new series.

At the time of its original announcement, Stallone was said not to appear on-camera reprising the role of John Rambo, similar to what we’d heard of his Expendables character, though it remains to be seen if anything will change, should Rambo: New Blood go to series. You can watch the original trailer below, and stay tuned for the latest.
