If you saw Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, then you, like us, immediately began mentally fan-casting the incredibly kick-ass Rebecca Ferguson in pretty much every upcoming film — in particular, we’d really love to see her join the MCU as Captain Marvel. According to the latest rumor, Marvel really wants that to happen, too.

Heroic Hollywood reports that Ferugson is Marvel’s top choice to play Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel in the studio’s first solo female superhero film. Just last month Ferguson declined a leading role in another superhero film, dropping out of the running to star opposite Channing Tatum in Gambit so she could star in Tate Taylor’s upcoming adaptation of The Girl on the Train with Emily Blunt. With Captain Marvel not hitting theaters until 2018, Ferguson definitely has time to dedicate to the MCU if she so chooses.

Ferguson impressed with her role in The White Queen series for Starz, but she really broke out with her part in Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, in which she proved an equally — if not more so — badass counterpart to Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt. Since then there’s been a very vocal contingency of fans pushing for her to play Captain Marvel. Her Girl on the Train co-star Emily Blunt (who also nearly eclipsed Cruise in another recent action film) has been a heavy favorite for the part of Marvel’s leading lady as well.

Captain Marvel is being scripted by Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Meg LeFauve (Inside Out), and is scheduled to hit theaters on November 2, 2018.
