MTV’s ‘Scream’ Season 3 Reboot Will Star Tyga, Air Over Three Nights
MTV Scream fans were disheartened to hear that existing plotlines and characters would be dropped for a Season 3 reboot, and now there are even more changes afoot. Meet your new Scream teens, including Tyga and The Notorious B.I.G.’s son, as MTV plots a unique airing strategy.
The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Tyga and C.J. Wallace will lead the six-episode season, eyed for a March premiere with the same three-night binge model 12 Monkeys recently used. Production has also moved from Louisiana to Atlanta, following the addition of Supernatural and Vampire Diaries alum Brett Matthews as showrunner and Flavor Unit Entertainment’s Queen Latifah, Shakim Conpere and Yaneley Arty as executive producers.
Tyga will play Jamal, step-brother to the un-cast Deion, who’s described as “a local star running back whose tragic past comes back to haunt him at the worst time, threatening his hard-earned plans for his future — and the lives of his unlikely group of friends.” Wallace will take the role of Amir, described as “a good kid whose strict parents expect him to keep clean during high school, stay away from girls and ultimately find his place within the family business … when events make him the unexpected target of a killer, Amir finds himself in over his head and his world view challenged.”
We’ll see if MTV manages to reignite Scream with a new cast and event-style airing, so stay tuned for the latest.
