It still boggles my mind that there’s going to be a Suicide Squad movie before there’s a Justice League movie (or, for that matter, a Wonder Woman movie). But there is; it’s just a matter of fact at this point. Production on Suicide Squad began last month under the direction of David Ayer, who keeps tweeting out teases of his cast. Last weekend, he gave his Twitter followers a glimpse at Jared Leto’s Joker. A few minutes ago, he published this cast shot (minus Leto):

From left to right (at least according to my eyes, forgive me if I goof anything up), that’s Adam Beach as Slipknot, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, Cara Delevigne as the Enchantress, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Will Smith as Deadshot, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, and (I think?) Jay Hernandez as El Diablo.

The background says “Welcome to Belle Reve,” the name of the prison where the Suicide Squad of the comics is based (because they’re all incarcerated criminals forced to work for the U.S. government). As for the characters themselves, they range from looking very familiar (Robbie’s expression as Harley Quinn is perfect) to not at all like their comic-book counterparts (Will Smith’s Deadshot is missing his signature silver helmet, probably because you don’t pay Will Smith to be in your movie and then cover his entire face). It’s tough to gauge much more than that from a picture, so let’s hold off further judgment for now. The movie opens in theaters on August 5, 2016.

UPDATE: Will Smith’s Facebook page just posted this photo of Smith in a version of the classic Deadshot helmet:

So I guess you will see Smith in that famous Deadshot helmet at some point in the movie.
