As ABC plans to premiere a new hourlong special diving deeper into the Marvel Cinematic Universe than ever before, the studio continues bulking up its properties. Edgar Wright's 'Ant-Man' is the latest to make some major additions to its cast as the studio is currently in negotiations with 'The Conjuring' (and 'The Conjuring 2') star Patrick Wilson, along with the now confirmed talks with Michael Pena.
'Strech', the new action-thriller starring Chris Pine, Jessica Alba and Patrick Wilson, was scheduled to be released in just two months (on March 21), but now it won't be released at all. Universal Pictures abruptly pulled the plug on the film at the last minute after they balked at the $20-40 million needed to properly promote the film. If you know 'Stretch' director Joe Carnahan at all, you know he wasn't happy.
Director James Wan and writer Leigh Whannell return to the spooky fun house with 'Insidious Chapter 2,' marking Wan's second horror film release in as many months after this summer's surprise hit 'The Conjuring.' Unfortunately, the sequel gives diminishing returns as the scares are dialed down and the laughs (intentional and unintentional) are cranked way up.
It's no secret that James Wan's 'The Conjuring' has been testing through the roof and is poised to terrify audiences when it opens on Friday. Therefore, it's no surprise that 'The Conjuring 2' is already being developed. Considering the story's inspiration for the first, this sequel might just be the start of a new major horror franchise.
Paranormal researchers, Ed and Lorraine, try to help a family rid their house of a demonic spirit looking to possess them.
Not that HBO's 'Girls' didn't already court its fair share of controversy, but the Lena Dunham-scripted series took an exceptional amount of criticism this past season for sex scenes between Dunham's character Hannah and guest star Patrick Wilson, as well as those between star Adam Driver and guest Shiri Appleby. With production on 'Girls' season 3 underway, Dunham has issued her own responses to the criticism, calling one scene a "terrible miscommunication."
Fans of 'Insidious' know that the first film ended with one final twist and a bit of a cliffhanger, so it came as no surprise when 'Insidious 2' was announced. Of course, there was always the big question of whether or not it would live up to the sheer terror of the first. With the arrival of the 'Insidious 2' trailer, however, the answer appears to be yes.
