Sherlock production has been curiously quiet since the initial announcement last month, with nary a sighting of Benedict Cumberbatch or Martin Freeman, though it seems the game is finally once again afoot. Captain America baddie Toby Jones has officially been announced as a new Season 4 villain, deepening the great Moriarty mystery.

Benedict Cumberbatch, you busy bee. Just days after hanging around the comic shops of NYC dressed as Doctor Strange (and presumably some filming as well), the Sherlock star is already back in action for Season 4, popped collar and all. Boy, that Benedict Cumberbatch is a busy bee. Just days after making the streets of NYC a little Strange-r, the Sherlock star is back abroad, kicking off production on the fourth season of the detective’s modern adventures. That said, why do we get the feeling Season 4 might be Sherlock and Watson’s final case?

Nice as it was to have Sherlock reintroduce us to Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman’s dynamic in a classic era, the stealth prequel couldn’t help whet appetites for Moriarty’s apparent return in Season 4. Sadly, we’ll have to wait longer than ever to catch up with Sherlock and Watson in the modern day, as PBS says Season 4 is at least a year out.

At long last, Sherlock will once again return to all our TV screens in just a few days time, albeit looking a bit different than we’re used to. Now, cast and crew take us inside The Abominable Bride with a new featurette detailing how Benedict Cumberbatch’s modern Sherlock transported itself back to Victorian times.

Sure, Sherlock has his upcoming Victorian special and a fourth season beyond that, while Idris Elba’s Luther will make a grand mini-series return, and Gillian Anderson’s The Fall also readies another run, but forget all that. The real money’s in crossover! The closer we draw to December’s end, the closer we are to new Sherlock in the form of one-off Victorian special “The Abominable Bride.” We’ve seen a few photos to date, but now the lady in question makes herself known in a new Sherlock trailer for the 2016 premiere, veil, shotgun and all.

The BBC’s Sherlock has plenty of Doctor Who in its blood between creators Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, but did you know Matt Smith even auditioned for the role of Watson? Or that Amanda Abbington (Mary) is Martin Freeman’s real-life partner? Flip your collar and swish that coat, as the 34th episode of ‘You Think You Know TV?’ hits the streets of London to detect some elementary facts from Sherlock.

We’re at least a month from Sherlock’s grand return in the form of one-off Victorian special “The Abominable Bride,” so we’ll take all the photos and case details we can get, rather than wait until 2016.
