It was hilarious and weird and about as dark as dark comedy can get...

The Venture Bros. production has changed quite a bit over the years, once airing 13 episodes a season over largely unbroken runs, and now averaging eight with various specials in between. The same may apparently be true of Season 7, some of which has already been written, and may end up as a go-between special after Season 6.

We’ve waited a lifetime for The Venture Bros. to return for Season 6, and yesterday’s big trailer isn’t the only thing keeping us company before the January 31 premiere. Check out the first official clip from Season 6 premiere “Hostile Makeover,” as The Monarch returns to invade Rusty’s new corporate digs!

Sweet Sally of a time it’s taken to get here, The Venture Bros. Season 6 looks to be a tremendous makeover for the series, both in shifting location to New York City, upping Rusty’s financial credit, and tossing all manner of new superheroes and villains into the mix. The Venture Bros. occupies a unique space in animation, actually allowing its characters to age and progress, even if the wait between seasons keeps us all aging significantly faster. The wait for an official premiere date on The Venture Bros. Season 6 has been almost as grueling as the wait between seasons itself, but it looks as if Rusty and co. at last have their return. Following initial reports of February, Adult Swim has officially set The Venture Bros. Season 6 for a late January bow.

We’ve seen Adult Swim’s Robot Chicken take on DC superheroes a multiverse of times, including three separate specials, but The CW has finally earned itself a place as well. A new clip from Sunday’s outing sees both Arrow and The Flash going stop-motion for Robot Chicken, as well as a host of other sexy CW series.

Back in September, the notoriously spaced-out Venture Bros. finally gave us a look at its upcoming sixth season, setting an even further premiere for February 2016. Now, we finally have a look at all the pop culture panache and weirdness permeating the first full trailer, and yes, a Nathan Fillion Spider-Man that … ahem, webs his pants.

Any fan of The Venture Bros. knows how torturous the wait in between seasons can be (there have only been five total since 2004), and while “All This and Gargantua-2” helped stoke the fires, at last Rusty, Dean, Hank and Brock have an official return. The Venture Bros. Season 6 will officially bow in February of 2016.

As Hannibal fans this weekend (and billions of others before them) can attest, too long has the antiquated Nielsen ratings system given an incomplete picture of a show’s viewership, swaying networks to and fro of cancellation. We may finally have some progress however, as Nielsen will begin taking into account streaming data from the likes of Hulu, Netflix and beyond.
