When something goes wrong, we often revisit and analyze the past to find warning signs that were previously overlooked. If you apply that logic to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Man of Steel, for instance, then you could find yourself reading old interviews with Zack Snyder to try and figure out if maybe we knew all along that these were the kinds of superhero movies he was going to make..

‘Batman v Superman’ Art Reveals Robin Was Also a Killer
Despite Ben Affleck’s solid turn as the caped crusader in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, some fans took issue with one particular aspect of this new Batman: he kills. It’s not entirely out of character for the iconic superhero (he’s killed people in the comic books before), but the movie and TV versions of the Dark Knight don’t typically murder bad guys. It’s part of that whole “hero” thing, you know? If you were one of the fans disappointed with Zack Snyder’s decision to have Batman kill some thugs, then boy do we have some news for you.

After a disappointing weekend that saw it lose to a horrible Melissa McCarthy comedy in only its third week of release, Batman vs. Superman looks poised for a total domestic run between $325 and $340 million. Weekend Box Office: ‘The Boss’ vs. ‘Batman v Superman’
In most of these Weekend Box Office Reports, it’s clear who the victor will be. Even when the early estimates are a little off and the numbers shift between now and Monday, the basic layout of the top 10 is generally pretty accurate. But this week is a real race and the top two films are neck and neck, and we won’t know who will actually win this thing until tomorrow. But right now, early estimates have Melissa McCarthy’s new comedy The Boss barely edging out Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice by less than $50,000. That’s crazy and, whether it actually claims the top spot tomorrow or not, very bad for Batman v Superman.

This post contains spoilers for Batman vs. Superman. Whether you look at it as a positive or a negative, Batman vs. Superman was empirically a dark movie.
