Love it or hate it, there’s no denying that Batman vs. Superman at the very least occupies an interesting space in the pop-cultural landscape: a polarizing film loathed by critics but fiercely defended by a cult fanbase while simultaneously achieving...

Of the many divisive aspects of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Doomsday turned out to be one of the lesser offenders, though many pointed out that Weta’s design of the character was a little too similar to a handful of their other designs in films like The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. Like all visual effects creations, Doomsday went through a few different iterations before director Zack Snyder and his team settled on the final design, and new concept art shows you what the villain could have looked like.

Weekend Box Office Report: ‘Batman vs. Superman’ Takes a Big Stumble

by Jacob Hall April 3, 2016 @ 12:10 PM
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice held on to the number one spot at the box office this weekend, but it sure wasn’t pretty. Zack Snyder’s superhero showdown took a jaw-dropping tumble and if any other studio had decided to release a major film this weekend, it probably would have sunk to second place. This film is already proving to be a fascinating case study in marketing versus word of mouth: one earns you an opening weekend while the other gives you legs.

Since the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Zack Snyder hasn’t spent much time talking about Justice League or the future of the DC movie universe — instead, he’s mostly been explaining some of the (many, many, many) things that happen in his superhero epic. And while we anxiously await his explanation of Granny’s Peach Tea, the director is opening up about one character who wasn’t actually in the film, but whose existence was crucial to Ben Affleck’s iteration of Batman.

If You Like Your Movies Physically As Well As Emotionally Assaultive, You’ll Love 4DX

by Matt Singer March 31, 2016 @ 9:12 AM
Warner Bros.
Movies are the most immersive art form ever created. At their best, they are almost literally transportive. But apparently, they’re not quite immersive or transportive enough. Over the last couple years, studios and exhibitors have hatched up a series of new gimmicks designed to bring customers “inside” the movie (and to bring studios and exhibitors further inside their customers’ wallets), from 3D to IMAX to D-BOX. The latest is 4DX, which has been around in various parts of the world since 2009, but just debuted in New York City this week. According to its official site, which bills the format as “the ultimate in state of the art technology delivering a fully immersive cinematic experience,” 4DX advances “the movie theater experience from watching the movie to almost living it.”

We’ve seen Ash Vs. Evil Dead star Bruce Campbell boomstick it to The Walking Dead once before, and ol’ Groovy Bruce isn’t lying low while we wait for Season 2. The erstwhile Fargo and Evil Dead star took a playful jab at Batman v. Superman as well, and let’s face it, we’d all surrender more cash to add Ash Williams and a chainsaw into the mix.

Zack Snyder Confirms ‘Batman vs. Superman’ Easter Egg, Teases Cyborg’s Role in ‘Justice League’

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice just gets curiouser and curiouser. Earlier today, Warner Bros. released a totally bizarre (to say the least) deleted scene from the film, which appeared to incorporate a couple of crucial elements from the DC comic book universe. Although ultimately cut from the theatrical version, Zack Snyder confirms that at least one of those things appears elsewhere in the film — you may have spotted it during Cyborg’s cameo.
