If Ryan Gosling is the internet’s imaginary boyfriend, then Ben Mendelsohn is like the internet’s second husband — the eccentric one who had some shady business dealings, but hey, he did his time, and now he’s ready to kick back with a sixer of High Life (it is the champagne of beers, after all) and regale you with stories about his stint trafficking exotic snakes on the black market, which is really just his elaborate way of avoiding his delinquent bills and that teenager he has from a previous marriage. Basically, we love him because he makes for some of the most likably shady characters, and soon he’ll make us fall for another one in that Robin Hood: Origins movie.

It’s telling that Rogue One’s best character is a robot.

He may have a flowy cape and plenty of henchmen to carry out his every order, but don’t let that fool you: Rogue One villain Orson Krennic isn’t as high-class as he seems. We already knew he is (or was) buddies with Jyn Erso’s engineer father Galen, which suggested Krennic was maybe a little more nuanced than he seems in the trailers. Today, director Gareth Edwards revealed that Krennic is very different from Star Wars villains of the past.

In Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Felicity Jones’ rebellious Jyn Erso and her team are on a mission to retrieve the plans to the Death Star which, judging by these new character posters, have been right in front of their faces THE ENTIRE TIME. Actually, on their faces, and they look like intricate Etch-a-Sketch doodles uploaded to the Grid in Tron.

Alpha and Omega of streaming originals as it may be, even Netflix stumbles now and again. So it was with Hemlock Grove and Marco Polo, and now Floridian family drama Bloodline is the latest granted an early end, confirmed to wrap up after three seasons.

The future is looking brighter for Joe Wright fans: After Pan flopped in theaters and was labeled a disaster by critics (one could say it was panned), he directed an upcoming episode of Black Mirror, and how he’s back in the saddle again with Darkest Hour, which has just gotten a release date from Focus Features, along with some new cast members.

As promised, Empire has revealed an alternate cover for their upcoming October issue, which includes a big feature story on Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. This one puts Ben Mendelsohn’s villain front and center, flanked by a pair of menacing Death Troopers — that name alone is way cooler and more intimidating than the Empire’s usual Stormtroopers, and that’s before we even get to those sleek, black suits.

The second season of Netflix’s Bloodline came and went about as quietly as the first, though Netflix isn’t generally the type to cancel series outright. The Rayburn family drama will indeed return for Season 3 in 2017, though Florida tax credit changes place a questionable future on the horizon.
