It's been a tough road for DC animation on TV since its most successful incarnations with the Bruce Timm-Paul Dini era, and even the madcap 'Batman: The Brave and the Bold,' but it seems Cartoon Network may have suffered another casualty. Following similar moves to pull 'Young Justice' and 'Green Lantern: The Animated Series,' CG Dark Knight series 'Beware the Batman' has been unceremoniously pulled from the lineup.
Beware the Batman
We'd known from the series' premise and first trailer that 'Beware the Batman' would present a wholly different take on the Dark Knight, utilizing Alfred as a sidekick against a host of Batman's rogues gallery foes not traditionally depicted in media, but the poppy, stylized opening credits to 'Beware the Batman' have set it the furthest apart yet!

DC animation was dealt a major blow this past year when Cartoon Network opted not to renew either the critically acclaimed 'Young Justice' or 'Green Lantern: The Animated Series,' but the days of the DC cartoon superhero are far from over. This July will see the Dark Knight's return to television in the CGI 'Beware the Batman,' but is the first trailer as good as we hope it is?
With all the talk flying around Marvel these days, from new 'Iron Man 3' sneak peeks, to the live-action 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' TV series, it's been a good while since we've heard anything on the DC side! Well, no longer! It might be on the side of the small screen, but Cartoon Network's upcoming animated series 'Beware the Batman' might just give us our fix while we wait for news of the caped crusader's big-screen future. So how would you like to get up close with the character design, including villains and a bad-ass Alfred?
We've seen all manner of reactions to the terrible and tragic 'The Dark Knight Rises' shooting in aurora. Some comedians make horribly ill-timed jokes, while the Warner Bros. studio itself modifies films like 'Gangster Squad' for content all-too reminiscent of the shooting that left 12 dead and dozens more wounded. On the heels of it's 'Gangster Squad' changes, Warner Bros. has decided to make a few changes to upcoming animated series 'Beware the Batman' as well. What's going to be different?
They tell us to 'Beware the Batman,' we've certainly read about the Batman, and we've even seen pictures of the Batman, but how come we haven't actually gotten to watch the Batman? Because before now, DC Nation hadn't given us our first teaser for their upcoming CG interpretation of The Dark Knight!
While many of us remain in an eternal lament over the end of Bruce Timm' and Paul Dini's masterful take on the DC Universe, a number of superhero efforts over the past few years have bridged the gulf better than we expect. And while gone is the campy flavor of 'Batman: The Brave and the Bold,' we're ready for a bold new vision of The Dark Knight.
