'The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel' was the surprise box office hit of 2011, bringing older audiences out in droves and playing far longer than most major Hollywood releases. Naturally, a sequel was immediately put into production, and today brings the 'Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel' trailer with everything that fans of the first film want. There's older British people being witty, older British people getting it on, and older British people rediscovering life and love and happiness in India. Oh, and then there's Richard Gere as the new token American.
Bill Nighy and Domhnall Gleeson star in Richard Curtis' ('Love Actually') latest and, unfortunately, last directorial effort, 'About Time.' The two play a father-and-son duo with a unique family trait -- the men can all travel through time. While the film is a unique take on the rom-com genre, focusing primarily on Gleeson's Tim as he uses his gift to land a girlfriend (in Rachel McAdams), this familial relationship offers some of the film's most moving moments.
Following news that actor Peter Capaldi would go on to become the next 'Doctor Who' after Matt Smith's exit later this year, reports emerged that actor Chiwetel Ejiofor had previously turned down the role of the 11th Doctor, denying the franchise its first major casting shakeup for the role. And while producers insisted that Capaldi was the primary choice to replace Smith this time around, UK actor Bill Nighy has come forward to admit he turned down the iconic part.
If the finished film is anything like the trailer, 'About Time' will be one of those movies that your girlfriend/wife drags you to see against your wishes that you end up loving. After all, writer/director Richard Curtis is responsible for 2003's 'Love Actually,' which everyone with a soul cherishes.
