We're about as excited for 'The World's End' as we are for any Edgar Wright directed film...meaning that we're excited about it a whole bunch. Like "if we could only see one movie in 2013, it would be this one." Thanks to some schedule changes, it looks like we'll get to see the latest from Wright and frequent collaborator Simon Pegg sooner than we expected.
What started with 'Shaun of the Dead' and continued with 'Hot Fuzz' will conclude with 'The World's End', the third comedy in Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright's so-called "Cornetto Trilogy." While the two lads will almost certainly collaborate on future projects, this is the end of a significant body of work for millions of film fans, to be sure. So let's celebrate with two new pictures and a unholy amount of beer, what do you say?
The world was supposed to end today (newsflash: it didn't) and yesterday we got a first look at one upcoming apocalyptic comedy, the Seth Rogen and James Franco film 'This Is the End.' Today we get our first official look at 2013's other apocalyptic comedy, the Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost film 'The World's End.'
'The World's End' reunites Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost as they once again join forces to bring us a genre-bending feature and the culmination of a quasi-trilogy that includes 'Shaun of the Dead' and 'Hot Fuzz'. 'The World's End' a comedy that sees a pub-crawl and the end of the world duel for the attention of a group of tipsy friends.
'The World's End' poster has just been revealed which suitably imitates a pub sign while also foreshadowing a fiery end to the Earth. Check the whole poster out after the jump;, where you'll also find out when it's scheduled to hit theaters!
One of the big surprises of Marvel’s Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con back in July was the presence of director Edgar Wright, who was brought on stage to introduce test footage he shot of a potential Ant-Man movie. The funny part is that Wright never confirmed that he was actually making a movie, Marvel stayed mum on the topic, and the footage has yet to be seen by anyone outside of Hall H.
The footage still isn’t out there, but an artist calling himself Samurai Jack has put together a storyboard recreation of what he remembers from the footage to give people a visual idea of what was shown.
Though it starts shooting in a month, we haven't heard too much about the casting for Edgar Wright's 'The World's End.' Sure, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are in it - it is the supposed final chapter of their Cornetto trilogy - but the trio have often scored some great British actors for their supporting cast. Now they've added a Bond girl.
So the Sight & Sound poll was a big deal this week. If you missed it, it's the once-a-decade list of the top 50 films as voted by critics from around the world. But what about directors? We've got a look at the all-time top 10 lists from some of the greats, like Quentin Tarantino, Martin Scorsese, Woody Allen, and more.
