Even movies about toys need writers. (Sometimes. [I guess.])

Remember when you were a kid, and you would play with all your different toys at the same time? You’d have the Ninja Turtles team up with the Ghostbusters to take down Hulk Hogan and Ultimate Warrior, and then they’d all get transported to the land of the Thundercats.

Paramount’s writers room experiment on the Transformers franchise proved to be quite productive, with writer / producer Akiva Goldsman overseeing a brain trust that yielded ideas for future sequels and spinoffs. Following his success on the Transformers franchise, the studio has put Goldsman in charge of developing similar writers rooms for G.I. Joe and Micronauts, hoping to revitalize the former and kickstart the latter.

The release of Magic Mike XXL is less than two weeks away and Channing Tatum is apparently all out of f–cks to give. The actor stopped by the Howard Stern Show and decided to get brutally honest about a few things, resulting in a few quotes that surely have a few behind-the-scenes people writing frantic emails about the repercussions of one of the most well-liked actors in modern Hollywood speaking his mind. The short version: Tatum really hates those G.I. Joe movies.

Despite two wildly different approaches with ‘G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra’ and ‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation,’ Paramount still hasn’t managed to get their big screen take on everyone’s second favorite ‘80s toy/cartoon franchise right (with the first being ‘Transformers,’ of course). The box office has been decent, but fan reaction has been middling at best, with everyone in the world giving both films a big ‘ol shrug. But Paramount is not giving up on this potential gold mine yet! It seems that they have some pretty wacky plans to make ‘G.I. Joe 3’ into a must-see experience, including two familiar villains and a crossover with the characters from ‘M.A.S.K.’

We currently live in a world where society has stopped blinking incredulously at the mere idea of major film franchises based on the dumb toys you used to play with back in the ‘80s. So, it’s not too surprising that Hasbro is apparently examining the possibility of a big screen ‘GoBots’ revival.

Honda has decided to take a hint from the film and television industry this holiday season by taking advantage of your nostalgia. The company's new ads feature some of your old pals, like Jem, G.I. Joe, Strawberry Shortcake, Stretch Armstrong, and Skeletor—OK, maybe Skeletor wasn't one of your childhood “friends.” It depends on what kind of kid you were.

If there's one thing we've learned from our years on the Internet, it's that there's no aspect of comics that can't be broken down and quantified in a single definitive list, preferably in amounts of ten. Talk of a 'Community' movie may well prove enough to sustain the cult NBC comedy through a sixth, and presumably final season, but for the moment, the Greendale gang will tackle their most ambitious outing yet with a 'G.I.
