Death for Game of Thrones can prove something of a guessing game, each season resurrecting or returning one character after another. Season 5 in particular kept people out in the snow on several major figures, but at least one character we can count as truly, sincerely no more. So sayeth the word of an official book.

If Game of Thrones Season 5 had any notable crack in the facade, it was Jaime and Bronn’s ultimately arbitrary adventures in Dorne, a stand-in for a long-delayed book plot returning us to the Riverland Tullys. Now, evidence suggests Jaime may finally fulfill his literary destiny, running afoul of some long-missed book characters as well.

George R.R. Martin has more to his name than just Game of Thrones, and Cinemax may help prove that to your average TV viewer. The premium cable network has begun development of a new series based on Martin’s ‘80s werewolf novella Skin Trade, and there’s nothing about the phrase “80s werewolf novella” we can’t get behind.

Game of Thrones fans are no stranger to scrutinizing production and trafficking wild rumors, and HBO itself has discussed the possibility of a big-screen closer to its George R.R. Martin adaptation, but don’t start lining up just yet. Martin himself debunked the latest rumor, at least for the time being.

The fifth season finale of Game of Thrones left both viewers and readers in the lurch, finishing the extent of published storylines for characters like Daenerys and Jon Snow. We certainly had an inkling of who next Daenerys might align with, but leaked photos from the Season 6 set seem to spoil at least one major plot point of Dany’s next storyline.

It’s grown old hat to accuse Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin of stalling on the franchise’s sixth installment The Winds of Winter, most recently by the revered author’s Sharknado cameo, so we have good news and bad. Martin will put in a zombified appearance on Syfy’s Z Nation, but may also finally drop Winter in 2016, according to reports.

Like the proverbial football plucked eternally from kicking range, Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin has oft-attempted to comment on the HBO adaptation of his work, only to find the internet widely exaggerating or misconstruing his words. That responsibility is ours today, as Martin comments on the fate of Stannis Baratheon, both on TV and the written page.

Now that HBO’s Game of Thrones will officially outpace George R.R. Martin’s books (unless you wanna throw Winds of Winter at us in March, George), fans cant help looking toward the inevitable series’ end in sight. And while Martin wouldn’t dare spoil any early details, the author at least assures us not everyone will die horrible apocalyptic deaths.

Despite everyone being more or less on an even keel now, Game of Thrones fandom has long been divided by viewers of the HBO series, and those committed to George R.R. Martin’s books.
