Lo and behold today’s update that a new screenwriter has been tapped to rewrite the script — because when Robert Downey Jr. says something is happening, he enters into a binding verbal contract with the universe and essentially wills his thoughts into existence.

This week has been awash with release date switch-ups, the most major being Lucasfilm’s decision to move Star Wars: Episode VIII from a May release date to another Christmas-hugging slot closer to the date that brought The Force Awakens such staggering success. This move is expected to trigger a chain reaction of moves for big-name releases, with films strategically avoiding competitive weekends. Today brings news of another delay, though its placement appears unrelated to the Star Wars postponement.

Today in release date news: Guy Ritchie’s Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur has been pushed back from its 2016 slot to February 2017, with Warner Bros. trying to capitalize on the box office precedent set by another violent film directed by a white British guy. Meanwhile, the long-awaited Bad Santa 2 has been given an official 2016 release — just in time for next year’s holiday season.

Oh boy. In true Guy Ritchie fashion, the director’s King Arthur movie is supposed to be a departure from the classic tales, featuring Average White Man Charlie Hunnam in the role of the storied hero. We were not aware, however, that the King Arthur movie is merely a ploy to sell hunky “Men of the Round Table” calendars to your aunts.

Just as The Man From U.N.C.L.E. portion of the WB panel ended at Comic-Con 2015, the extended trailer for Guy Ritchie’s upcoming action flick has arrived online. And it’s very extended — the new trailer features five minutes of action-packed footage from Ritchie’s big screen reboot of the classic series, starring Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer.

Can Guy Ritchie work the same magic on The Man From U.N.C.L.E. that he did with Sherlock Holmes (not the sequel, let’s not mention that)? After seeing the first trailer back in February, it seems possible, but even more so with the second trailer which just arrived today. Rather than modernize the classic ‘60s television series, Ritchie keeps things retro with this period action piece, and it looks like it could be kind of fun.

First announced as Knights of the Roundtable, Guy Ritchie’s next film features a cast that includes Charlie Hunnam, Jude Law, Eric Bana and Djimon Hounsou. It now appears that the title may have changed, but we do have a couple of updates from the project: our first official look from the set of Ritchie’s King Arthur film, as well as an official synopsis, which describes the film as “bold”—you know, like Doritos.
