Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones

Over the past few years, the 'Paranormal Activity' series has established itself as one of the most inexpensive and reliable horror franchises around. Produced for (non-literal) pennies, they've consistently opened strong at the box office, ensuring a fast and efficient turnaround. The latest film, 'Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones,' has already accomplished that goal, but it did so without grabbing the number one spot. Sure, people may love found footage demons, but it turns out that they love animated singing princesses more.

‘Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones’ finds its own entertaining voice for the majority of its slim 84-minute runtime, before giving itself over to the good of the franchise as a whole, sacrificing quality and coherence in the process.

We're just a few days away from the debut of 'Paranormal Activity' spinoff 'The Marked Ones,' and today the folks behind the film have debuted a brand new teaser as part of their "Scream in the New Year" campaign. Partnering with Shock Till You Drop, they've released this teaser, entitled "Prayer," to help scoot you a little closer to the edge of your seat. We've been hearing some interesting things about the upcoming spinoff, and this teaser has us excited to ring in the new year with a few screams.

2014 looks like it will be a big year for the 'Paranormal Activity' franchise, with a fifth film hitting around Halloween and the intriguing spinoff, 'Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones,' arriving in a week. We don't know much about 'Paranormal Activity 5,' but we do know plenty about the spinoff, which takes this increasingly complicated found-footage saga of demons and possession to a Latino neighborhood. Two new clips have arrived from the film, and if you're looking for more of the same, you'll be very pleased.

'Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones' doesn't open in theaters until 2014, but next Friday (Friday the 13th, no less), Paramount Pictures is hosting 13 early screenings of the film nationwide. We have been chosen to host the screening in Dallas, TX and you can get your VIP seats right here!

We're long past the point where the 'Paranormal Activity' posters provide us with any real scares (sorry, but it's all just been the same stuff over and over), but we'll give some credit to this 'Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones' poster for a legitimately creepy image (at least in comparison to the unimaginative 'Paranormal Activity' posters that came before it).

Paramount Pictures has released the first trailer for its Latino spinoff film to the 'Paranormal Activity' horror franchise, titled 'Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones.' If you were expecting anything less than the jumps and "things flying at the camera" antics from the others, turn back now.

There was a little confusion last month when Paramount announced that 'Paranormal Activity 5' would be pushed back to 2014, while a new 'Paranormal Activity' spin-off film would hit theaters in January. Now we've gotten a little more clarification with the announcement of official release dates for both films -- that's right, two 'Paranormal Activity' films in the same year.
