MTV Scream fans were disheartened to hear that existing plotlines and characters would be dropped for a Season 3 reboot, and now there are even more changes afoot. Meet your new Scream teens, including Tyga and The Notorious B.I.G.’s son, as MTV plots a unique airing strategy.

Sadly, MTV Scream fans are going to have to wait a lot longer (like, forever) to finally answer the Brandon James mystery. Season 3 has confirmed plans to reboot the premise with new showrunners, even adding Queen Latifah as a new producer.

The Scream movies had a hard enough time keeping Sidney Prescott in peril for three sequels, so might MTV’s TV adaptation already need its own reboot? That’s the word on Season 3, as Dimension TV is apparently looking to scrap the current storyline and cast.

The Scream franchise certainly lost its steam with a third film, so might the MTV series follow suit? After a super-sized Season 2, Scream is officially booked for another stab at Season 3, albeit with less episodes, and another showrunner shift. That said, the second season of our Wes Craven-adapted drama has a stab at its May premiere, along with the first cast and story details.

The moment MTV announced its intent to reboot Scream as a TV series, it seemed reasonable to expect some changes in line with a new generation, and more teen focus. Now approaching its second season, Scream will have its showrunners replaced, as Dimension was reportedly unhappy with MTV’s changes to the franchise.
