The Avengers

‘The Avengers’ is the final film in Phase One of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After Tom Hiddleston’s Loki steals an object of immense power, super-spy Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) unites the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes to defend the planet from an alien invasion. The movie features the stars of every previous Marvel Studios production, including Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, and Chris Hemsworth as Thor (with Mark Ruffalo replacing Edward Norton as the Hulk). Thanks to a terrific cast, clever writing and crisp direction from Joss Whedon, and an infectious sense of fun, ‘The Avengers’ became a massive worldwide success, grossing more than $1.5 billion worldwide. A sequel, ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron,’ opens next summer, with at least two more sequels to follow after that.

Disney Reveals Official 2015 Release Schedule, New Photos
As briefly mentioned in that post featuring the new ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ photo, Disney’s 2015 release slate is kind of insane. The studio is releasing 12 new films, averaging out to one new movie per month. If things go well at the box office (and they probably will), they might very well indeed be the highest-grossing studio next year, thanks to releases like ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens,’ two new Pixar movies, and two new superhero films from Marvel Studios.

One of the reasons why we love Marvel’s Cinematic Universe so much is that all of the heroes and films operate in a shared universe, allowing for cameos and crossovers and storylines that affect and acknowledge other films and events. But Marvel’s superhero films haven’t exactly been presented in chronological order, so if you’re struggling to unravel the timeline for Marvel’s movies, don’t worry: someone already edited the first phase of films together in chronological order, and he’ll show you how to do it yourself.

James Gunn Clarifies Guardians/Avengers Crossover Comments

Marvel and DC Superheroes Do Battle in a Slick New Fan Video
It’s a debate that has literally raged on for decades. Who would win in a fight: the heroes of the Marvel comic book universe or the heroes of DC Comics? It’s mostly been a theoretical debate. Even a handful of special events over the years that saw both companies come together to pit their characters against one another have done little to solve things. This eternal, burning question is the inspiration behind a new fan-made trailer for a movie that will never, ever exist: ‘Marvel vs DC.’
