Just the other day 'Veronica Mars' announced the news that Tina Majorino's Mac would return for the upcoming Kickstarter movie, and now the fan-funded feature film has added two more returning favorites. 'Don't Trust the B in Apartment 23' star Krysten Ritter will reprise her character Gia Goodman, while 'Party Down' favorite Ryan Hansen will be back as Dick Casablancas, and we have the dance number to prove it!
We've been doing our best to keep up with the 'Veronica Mars' movie, which so far as we know has yet to actually enter production, but certainly won't be doing so without some of its most recognizable stars. The latest to sign on for the fan-funded feature is that of fan-favorite Tina Majorino's hacker extraordinaire, Cindy “Mac” Mackenzie, along with a host of familiar faces.
Though no Hollywood Kickstarter effort has been all that well-received since 'Veronica Mars' controversially utilized the service to launch its long-awaited film, it seems the 'Friday Night Lights' movie may finally happen thanks to the crowd-sourcing website. Producer Brian Grazer insists the movie adaptation of Peter Berg's NBC/DirecTV series -- itself adapted from the original movie adaptation of the same name -- remains in development, with crowd-sourcing as its likely next step.
Though no TV series has officially won the race to be the next 'Veronica Mars,' reviving a dormant property with a fan-funded feature film, cancelled ABC dramedy 'Pushing Daisies' ranks among those leading the charge. Series creator and 'Hannibal' helmer Bryan Fuller has been vocal about the possibility of a 'Pushing Daisies' Kickstarter project, but will it prove too expensive to attempt? Find out what Bryan Fuller has to say inside!
Only twelve days into its thirty-day campaign and the 'Veronica Mars' Kickstarter movie project has nearly doubled its projected goal, creating a high benchmark for the next TV series to attempt funding from a crowd-sourcing campaign. While a number of TV creators and stars have proposed Kickstarter campaigns of their own to follow 'Veronica Mars,' is NBC's dearly-departed 'Chuck' pulling ahead of the pack? Find out what Zachary Levi has to say inside!
Ever since the 'Veronica Mars' kickstarter soared passed its $2 Million goal within hours of launching, the film became a fait accompli. Which made it unlikely that creator/writer/director Rob Thomas didn't already have plans for Kristen Bell and the rest of the cast. Now he's revealed some of the details of the upcoming movie.
While it's only been a week since 'Veronica Mars' first launched a movie Kickstarter to massive success, already fans from dozens of past TV series have begun asking if their favorites will be next for the Kickstarter treatment. And while Joss Whedon has spoken out about 'Firefly,' and both 'Pushing Daisies' and 'Chuck' seem like viable candidates, what of canceled fan-favorite 'Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles?' Series show-runner Josh Friedman talks about the Kickstarter possibility inside!
Quite predictably, the overwhelming success (so far) of the 'Veronica Mars' movie Kickstarter has raised a plethora of questions over which TV series might look to repeat the process, and fund a movie continuing its cancelled adventures. 'The Avengers 2' director and 'Firefly' creator Joss Whedon naturally chimed in on the unlikelihood he'd attempt the same method, but could cult favorites 'Pushing Daisies' and 'Chuck' be the next to give Kickstarter a go? Those involved certainly believe so...
When 'Veronica Mars's Kickstarter movie soared past its goal of two million dollars yesterday, it was apparent that a new paradigm could be approaching for cult shows. Which led many (including us) to think about some of Joss Whedon's projects that have passionate fanbases but haven't always had big audiences. Whedon realized that as well, and so he gave an interview so he could address it, and not be bothered about it again -- at least for a while.
The world of TV and movies received a sizable buck yesterday when long-canceled cult TV series 'Veronica Mars' set out to finance a movie via Kickstarter, only to surpass its $2,000,000 goal within hours of the first day of its 30-day allotment. Its momentum seems to have slowed, only somewhat, as the total approaches $3,000,000, so what will 'Veronica Mars' creator Rob Thomas do with the remaining 29 days?
