What’s a Vin Diesel movie without the possibility of a sequel to a Vin Diesel movie? The actor has grown quite comfortable starring in franchises, from Riddick to Fast and Furious and Guardians of the Galaxy, but there’s one older Diesel property that the actor thinks deserving of a sequel: Brad Bird’s The Iron Giant.

Today in news that is both obvious and delightful, director James Gunn confirmed that Vin Diesel (and Groot) will return for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Sure, it was a foregone conclusion, but it’s good to know that our favorite lovable tree alien will be back for the sequel — although Gunn did not confirm if Groot will be bringing his sweet dance moves back.

The Fast and Furious series has been a sleeping giant for Universal Pictures, growing from a modestly successful franchise into a cultural juggernaut over the course of a decade. And like other cultural juggernauts owned or licensed by Universal, the increasingly wacky adventures of Dominic Toretto and his family eventually jumped into the theme park realm. Fast and Furious: Supercharged made its debut at Universal Studios Hollywood earlier this year and it was just announced that the ride is heading to the studio’s Florida park. But it’s going to have to be very different and that is what has us interested.

Fast and Furious 7 just made Universal over $1.5 billion and when you make people that much money, you can pretty much do whatever you want for your next project. Vin Diesel, the star of and producer of the Fast franchise, has that kind of clout now and has decided to use that clout to make…xXx 3?

After watching the new trailer for The Last Witch Hunter, it’s easy to see why noted uber-geek Vin Diesel would choose to star in this thing. This looks like one nerdy movie, the perfect chance for Diesel to put his years of Dungeons & Dragon practice to use on the big screen. After all, the story of an immortal warrior teaming up with a priest and a rogue witch to battle evil warlocks and monsters sounds more like an RPG campaign than a movie.

Here’s some good news for your friends and #family: Universal has officially announced a special extended edition of Furious 7, which will arrive in stores this September. Along with a longer version of the film, you’ll also get over 90 minutes of bonus materials. That’s enough time to drink at least three Coronas. The studio has also released a trailer to get you properly revved up for the home release.

Between his role in the Fast and Furious and Riddick franchises, and his upcoming part as Beardy McFlameSword (assumed name) in The Last Witch Hunter, Vin Diesel has established himself as a very brawny and delightful leading man — you know, sort of like Kojak.
