Conflicted accounts may rule the day on Showtime’s steamy marital drama ‘The Affair,‘ but the HFPA is on board for either side. The 2015 Golden Globes have officially granted Best TV Drama to ‘The Affair,’ just two months after the show was granted its second season.

Beating out some tough competition that included ‘Downton Abbey,’ ‘Game of Thrones,’ ‘The Good Wife’ and ‘House of Cards.’, the cast of ‘The Affair’ all took the stage to celebrate their victory with creator Sarah Treem. Treem thanked Showtime president David Nevins for having faith in the series, after they’d brought the project to studios three years earlier.

Remaining onstage even as the music played, Treem also thanked her own family and husband at the behest of the cast, as Treem pointed out all marriages are “sacred and valuable and essential.”

What do you think? Did ‘The Affair’ deserve the award for Best TV Drama at the 2015 Golden Globes? Have you been watching the inaugural season of ‘The Affair?’ Sound off in the comments with your reactions!
