‘The Expendables 3′ Inducts Jackie Chan to the Team
The all-star cast of the 'Expendables' franchise is gearing up for a third installment, which our buddy Sylvester Stallone has already said is hoping will include an abundance of "new blood." There've been a number of names thrown into the mix -- one of which was Nicolas Cage, though Sly insists he has no knowledge regarding that particular rumor -- but someone brand-new to the crew has confirmed to have officially boarded the action star-filled 'Expendables 3,' and that's Mr. Jackie Chan.
Chan recently spoke to a press conference (via Yahoo Movies) to promote his latest film 'CZ12,' where he revealed he would be boarding 'The Expendables 3,' and that he almost made it into the last film:
"Sly had invited me to be in 'Expendables 2,' but I was too busy filming 'CZ12' and couldn't make a commitment to the film. But he did extend his invitation to the third movie, which I agreed on the condition that I will be appearing as more than just a minor role with a few scenes."
The action star is, however, not without some requests of his own. Chan also stated that, during his conversation with Stallone, he expressed the hope that 'The Expendables 3' would read as a "buddy-buddy movie," if he were to indeed take on a starring role. And according to him, Stallone agreed and the script is being altered to meet his criteria.
Chan is also simultaneously thinking about the potential for a 'Rush Hour 4'-type movie. So far the working title for this project is 'Skip Tracer,' which will once again pair Chan up with a character from the West.
The script is currently viewed by Chris Tucker. Personally, I feel that if he were to pick it up, it would be better if we turned it into "Rush Hour 4" but I do think that three movies for the franchise is a perfect ending. It would be better to start a new buddy movie with someone new.
Aside from Chan and the 'Expendables' alumni, Stallone also hopes to bring on some female action stars like Sigourney Weaver or Michelle Rodriguez, while he's previously shot down the possibilities of inducting Harrison Ford, Mickey Rourke and Wesley Snipes.
