We're going to see a lot of 'The Walking Dead' season 4 over the next few days from Comic-Con 2013, including a full trailer from the panel, but why not check out one of the new characters days in advance? The first photo of new series regular Lawrence Gilliard Jr. as comic character Bob Stookey has emerged, but what about the character will end up different from the books?

Apart from the age and racial difference of the comic character, 'The Walking Dead' season 4's Bob Stookey won't originally hail from Woodbury, either. "His backstory is not entirely the same as in the comic and the novel,” said showrunner Scott M. Gimple to Entertainment Weekly, adding that Daryl finds Stookey approximately one week before the premiere episode "30 Days Without An Accident" begins. “I think he’s seen things go bad over and over, and winding up in this stable place doesn’t shake him from his experience. He struggles with that.”

Gilliard had his own insight into the character to add, saying “You can see there’s something deeper and darker that’s going on with this character, just from the first episode. We don’t really know what it is. We just know he’s got some issues that he’s dealing with.” In the books, the elder Stookey patched the Governor up after his battle with Michonne, and held an earlier role in prequel novel "Rise of the Governor."

While we wait for the first season 4 trailer from Comic-Con 2013, the next run of ‘The Walking Dead’ will upgrade actors Chad Coleman, Sonequa Martin-Green and Emily Kinney to series regulars, while AMC earlier confirmed that David Morrissey’s villainous Governor would also return in season 4 as a series regular.

You can check out Entertainment Weekly's photo of Lawrence GIlliard Jr. as Bob Stookey below, and stay tuned for the latest coverage from Comic-Con! What do you think the character will be up to in season 4?
