Walking Dead fans remain on the edge of their seats for news of Negan’s cliffhanger victim, though the characters themselves have new reason to kneel. Khary Payton has officially joined the Season 7 cast in the role of “King” Ezekiel, a fan-favorite comic character with a fiercely protective companion.

Following Season 6's mysterious introduction of armored men from another community, The new trailer confirms that Khary Payton has officially landed the role of Ezekiel, leader to comic community of “The Kingdom,” which holds court in an abandoned high school. Ezekiel himself is known as a former zookeeper (hence his pet freakin’ tiger Shiva, herself brought to life by a mix of animatronics and CGI), and a new complication in the war between Alexandria, The Hilltop and Negan.
