The year of 2014 will soon be upon us, and with it we'll be one month closer to 'The Walking Dead' season 4's February return. 2013's midseason finale "Too Far Gone" left our prison group in a dire place to be sure, but with many new challenges ahead, might David Morrissey's Governor return to haunt Rick and his group once more, despite the villain's bloody predicament?

You should beware of spoilers from here on out (as if that weren't implied by the title), but fans of AMC monster smash 'The Walking Dead' bid a bloody and fond farewell to iconic villain the Governor in the latest episode, finally skewered by Michonne's sword, and put down for good by his one-time companion Lilly. Even so, in a world where the dead walk, and tortured leaders experience occasional hallucinations of fallen friends, could we expect to see the Governor again down the line?

By way of Zap2It, we've come across a report in which actor David Morrissey seems surprisingly cagey about a potential return to the series, particularly for a dead man already spared the axe once before:

Something happened to him. I feel like a shady politician where I can't confirm and I can't deny anything. Certainly, bad things befell him at the end of the last episode but we just have to wait and see.

In context, we know very well that the character was confirmed dead, with a headshot to boot, but it wouldn't be the first time Rick saw the face of an old enemy in a moment of panic. And who's to say if the next major villain doesn't give Rick a similar bit of deja vu when he finally makes his own grand appearance?

What do you think? Would you welcome the Governor back in flashback or hallucination, or are you glad the series has moved on? Take a look at where we might next see David Morrissey pop up on AMC, and give us your 2014 predictions for 'The Walking Dead' season 4 in the comments!
