New ‘True Blood’ Final Season Poster: Sookie Stays True to the Last Drop

Excited though we are for ‘True Blood‘ to return for a seventh and final season, we have to admit that the initial poster lacked a bit in bite. Now, our first provocative glance at the true ‘True Blood’ season 7 key art sticks with the simplicity approach, but begs a few tantalizing questions in the meantime.

Sure, Sookie’s tears are nothing precisely new for ‘True Blood,’ but even we have to wonder if there’s anything to be read by the bloody streak left behind the tear’s path, something normally reserved for the show’s vampires. Season 6 certainly showed vampire-faerie hybrids to be possible, might Sookie have a few big changes in store for the final 10 episodes, or at least enough to cry about to cause the bloody discharge? Is there even any phrase more revolting than “bloody discharge?”

We know of ‘True Blood’ season 7 that Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) will indeed return, despite a seemingly fiery end teased in the season 6 finale. Anna Camp’s Sarah Newlin will return, likely battling a new Japanese cowboy villain played by ‘The Wolverine’ co-star Will Yun Lee, and joining ’90210′ alum Riley Smith and Nathan Parson, who replaces Luke Grimes in the role of James. Storytelling will shrink to see more direct human-vampire relationships in light of the Hepatitis V threat, while more details and series regular ascensions have been outlined in our guide to ‘True Blood”s final season.

Feast your eyes on the bloody new poster for ‘True Blood’ season 7 below, as well as the most recent trailer above, and tell us if you believe the June 22 premiere will stay “True to the End!”
