X-Files fans can hardly wait until 2016 to pick up with Mulder and Scully, though questions remain as to how the six-episode run will balance lingering alien mythology arcs with the classic standalone episodes. Well, for one, it seems we can expect the FBI favorites will go up against a crazy were-beast of some kind amid all the alien activity! That’s something, right?

According to TVLine, the third episode of the 2016 X-Files reunion will pit David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson against a hairier breed of monster than our extraterrestrial regulars, and likely keep its tongue firmly in cheek by the title:

The Darin Morgan-penned and -helmed third episode bears the title “Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster,” and it centers on a nondescript man by day/scurry-ass beast by night.

And while other rumors have suggested that one episode might follow up on the inbred classic “Home,” recent set photos suggested we’d have at least some alien activity across the six episodes, whatever the context for the below shots:

Thus far, FOX’s X-Files return has also confirmed Mitch Pileggi and William B. Davis to reprise their roles beside David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, with Joel McHale guesting, apart from a shortlist that named Robert Patrick and Annabeth Gish as character candidates to return. On the creative side, writers and producers Chris Carter, Glen Morgan and Jim Wong will return to write and direct, with Frank Spotnitz also eyed to pitch in, and composer Mark Snow also coming aboard.

The X-Files will shoot this summer for a premiere in January 2016, but what else might set photos reveal over the course of production?
