'The Dark Knight Rises' was by far one of the summer's main highlights, but even though it wasn't nominated for a Golden Globe or an Academy Award this year, movie fans have named it the Best Movie of 2012.

Christian Bale's final performance as Batman in Christopher Nolan's 'Dark Knight' trilogy, accompanied by Anne Hathaway as Catwoman and Tom Hardy as the "breaker of the Bat" Bane, has just scored the title of Best Movie of 2012 in our fan poll, following it's slightly more official Critics Choice Award win for Best Actor in an Action Movie (obviously, Bale won that).

Coming in at a close second is Joss Whedon's 'The Avengers,' starring the star-studded cast of Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow) and Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury). The Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson-led 'The Hunger Games,' which is revving up for the 2013 premiere of the sequel 'Catching Fire,' nabbed the third-place slot.

'The Dark Knight Rises' was the clear fan favorite in multiple categories, including Best Movie Poster and Best Movie Trailer. Though it's only other win came from it's Bane-featured poster, which beat out 'The Avengers' (once again), 'Pacific Rim,' 'Star Trek Into Darkness,' 'Man of Steel' and 'The Wolverine,' to name a few.
