2013 Critics Choice Awards Winners: ‘Argo’ Takes Home Best Picture and Best Director
The 2013 Critics Choice Awards winners were announced Thursday night, just off the heels of the 2013 Oscar nominations, which were revealed earlier that morning. Ben Affleck's 'Argo' certainly had much to celebrate (and not just because it's a fav of Roger Ebert's) -- aside from being nominated in the Academy Awards' categories for Best Picture and Best Director, 'Argo' also took home the titles for both those categories in the Critics Choice Awards.
'Silver Linings Playbook,' one of the frontrunners in this year's awards race, and starring Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence, also won big, taking home four awards including Best Comedy, Best Actor in a Comedy and Best Actress in a Comedy.
One has to wonder whether the 2013 Critics Choice Awards winners foreshadow what's to come when the Oscars ceremony hits. Daniel Day-Lewis, for instance, took home Best Actor for his performance in the title role of Steven Spielberg's 'Lincoln,' while Jessica Chastain won in the Best Actress category for 'Zero Dark Thirty.' Does this mean their competitors stand little chance in the Oscar race?
Check out the full list of the 2013 Critics Choice Awards winners below, and give us your theories about the 2013 Oscars in the comments. Do these wins change your opinion of any of the contenders?
