DC animation was dealt a major blow this past year when Cartoon Network opted not to renew either the critically acclaimed 'Young Justice' or 'Green Lantern: The Animated Series,' but the days of the DC cartoon superhero are far from over. This July will see the Dark Knight's return to television in the CGI 'Beware the Batman,' but is the first trailer as good as we hope it is?

The new series will debut on Saturday, Jul. 13 and focus on Batman's battles with a largely unknown set of villains, present in the comics but never-before adapted for TV. 'Beware the Batman' features the voice talents of 'Banshee' star Anthony Ruivivar as the Dark Knight, JB Blanc as ex-secret agent Alfred Pennyworth, Sumalee Montano as Katana, and a villains roster that includes Wallace Langham as Anarky, Grey DeLisle as Magpie, Udo Kier as Mr. Toad, 'Fringe''s Lance Reddick as Ra’s al Ghul, and Brian George as Professor Pyg.

The Huffington Post got a look at the first trailer, which sadly lacks in any of the vocal performances but still provides a rough feel for the CGI series. The action looks to be up to snuff with Batman donning a slicker black suit than he usually sports on TV. Though, it remains to be seen if DC fans will accept the new animation format any moreso than the similarly styled 'Green Lantern' animated series.

'Beware the Batman' premieres Saturday, Jul. 13 at 10 a.m., followed by 'Teen Titans Go!,' so check out the trailer (above), and tell us what you think in the comments!
